Hot Springs, Arkansas - nature and history in a compact package

Summer 2021

Luck was with us on this one night stop as we got the last spot in the Gulpha Gorge campground within the Hot Springs National Park which encompasses the historic district downtown as well. This was with our smaller Rockwood and we barely fit - we wouldn’t now. The sites were along a scenic little river and trails led up and down into the town. We took the trail into town and strolled among the spa buildings. In the visitor center I bought some bath things and a small jar of locally made arnica cream for muscle aches. The cashier turned out to be the one who makes it!

The walk into town through the forest had some interesting geology for Jim and lots of greenery and forest floor stuff to interest me.

Jackson and Chloe liked the streams. Walking through the downtown was good training for the dogs although less restful for us. Chloe in particular takes constant attention due to her age and the “Aussieness” of her. This was a neat one night stop.
